Due to continued business expansion and a recent internal restructure, our client seeks to recruit 2 experienced lawyers into its legal team based in Sydney.
Working in very close proximity to key business decision makers and with a high level of autonomy, you will perform a general counsel role and advise on a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues but with particular emphasis on the following:
  • Provide legal advice and support on corporate transactions including asset acquisitions and disposals, capital raisings and refinancings, often on an international basis;
  • Liaise closely with and advise Board members and senior executives on key strategic and regulatory issues and generally manage board and investment committee processes;
  • Co-ordinate and manage external legal advisers;
  • Liaise with offshore colleagues on cross-border transactions, involving periodic international travel.
The successful candidate will have the following profile:
  • Clearly demonstrated experience in working on big-ticket, high value and complex corporate transactions, preferably with a cross-border flavour, and with the ability to manage the process through to execution;
  • Ideally a strong mix of M&A, equity capital markets and some private equity fund experience;
  • The confidence to operate often unsupervised, autonomously and at very senior levels throughout the organisation;
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, and with a very commercial approach to resolve technical legal issues.
These positions will be appropriate for mid to senior level lawyers in a recognised law firm, corporate entity or those candidates who have recently returned from working overseas in transactional roles.
