Our client is a global insurance company, headquartered in the US. Due to continuous growth of the business, they are now looking for an experienced

Data Protection Officer (f/m/d)

to be based in Frankfurt, Munich or another (EU) office location. This is an outstanding and senior opportunity to join the company's award-winning Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department. You will also serve as the registered Data Protection Officer for the company's German operations.

In this challenging position you will be responsible for a broad range of privacy matters and you will become a trusted advisor to the senior management. You will have a leading role in the interaction with Workers Councils in Germany in relation to data protection issues and you will also work closely with the company's Global Privacy Team in developing, implementing, and advising on compliance with the company's global privacy and GDPR governance programme requirements.

You will be a qualified lawyer or business lawyer with substantial experience as a Data Protection Officer, preferably from a multinational company. Ideally, you will also have an IAPP European certification. You will have an excellent understanding of German and European data privacy rules and regulations and preferably also relevant experience and understanding of the financial services sector. You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and work effectively and cross-functionally within a highly-matrixed organisation with employee representatives, managers and employees at all levels. Fluent German and English language skills are mandatory for this role.
