The Business

A global insurance broking and risk management firm, headquartered in the US, and a considerable history in Australia. The business has enjoyed growth since setting up in Sydney, and enjoys a dense national coverage, catering to huge multinational corporations and retail customers alike. The firm's success is built on a supportive culture and hands-on attitude, given its lean corporate structure.

The Role

Working closely with the Risk and Assurance Manager, you'll form a specialist stream of the broader legal, risk and compliance team. You'll be out in the business, responsible for:

  • Rolling out the firm-wide risk and assurance framework in Australia
  • Autonomously running audits in the business and in various branches across the country
  • Reporting on key metrics relating to outcomes, advice, remediation and training material
  • Conducting formal training, as well as educating stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis, promoting a strong compliance culture and becoming a trusted advisor

The Ideal Candidate

As a business partner, you'll need to review, educate, influence and support. This calls for an effective communicator with a proactive approach to risk management and assurance. If the following sounds familiar, you're likely to succeed in the role:

  • Strong tertiary academics in law, commerce, accounting or similar
  • Audit experience in a top-tier accounting firm or in-house, ideally in the financial sector
  • Proven stakeholder management skills
  • Able to / comfortable with travel across Australia as required

If you can boast the following, our client is likely to be very interested in your application:

  • CA/CPA/CISA (or equivalent) qualification
  • Practical understanding of broking systems
  • Strong insurance sector experience, whether client side or in-house
