A leading Insurance Company is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel in London (or Manchester) on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market leader and make a valuable contribution to the successful functioning of the legal team.
You will be primarily responsible for providing commercial legal advice to facilitate the development and conclusion of commercial relationships with clients, insurers, suppliers of services, third party introducers and other brokers. Contracts will include binding authority agreements with insurers, product/facility agreements with insurers, terms of business and terms of engagement with clients, NDAs, sub- and co-broker agreements and outsourcing and other agreements with suppliers.
Duties will include:
- Responsible for commercial legal advice and contract drafting to business units in the UK (including obtaining necessary regulatory input from Compliance and / or external legal advisors where appropriate).
- Provision of commercial legal advice on UK issues to businesses overseas, where required.
- Working together with business units and other support functions (in particular -Compliance) to ensure legal risk is managed appropriately.
- Supporting your other colleagues (UK and Warsaw-based) in their general commercial work.
You will be a UK (or other common Law Jurisdictions) qualified Lawyer with at least 8 years demonstrable Commercial experience with Insurance expertise. Strong interpersonal skills are essential and you must be able to develop relationships with key stakeholders. You will have a flexible and pragmatic approach combined with a commercial outlook and be highly collaborative. Experience of working in a UK financial regulatory environment is desirable as is analytics experience. Knowledge in product development and digitised consumer platforms would be advantageous.
